Beers for a new year

Well, take a couple weeks off from brewing and look how time flies! Can't believe it's already two months into 2011.

Exciting times are ahead for the Beer Lab, including a new basement storage setup and a kegerator project. But most importantly, production has resumed after a short holiday following the pre-Christmas brewing rush.

Bubbling in the basement is the first beer of the season, a black IPA largely based off of a Brew Your Own recipe.

It's the circle of beer... from the sacrifice of one bottle, another is born.
It's an exciting start to the second year of beermaking here. Just about every black IPA I've tried has been fantastic, and I fully expect a homebrew version to outdo all of them. Even have a quick label worked up:

IPAs really don't do subtle.
Still up for debate, though, is where things go from here. I know I want to try a few ciders -- already pulling together the ingredients for those -- and I plan to create something special for a get-together with some college friends later this year. But you, gentle readers, can have a voice too. What should the Lab try its hand at? Don't be shy -- toss something in the comments!
