Spring finally seems to have made a concerted push to show up today. So to celebrate, I tested out what could easily become a standby summer beer: Maui Brewing's Mana Wheat.
It's wheat with fresh Hawaiian pineapple, and Maui makes it work quite nicely. The beer (canned! it seems to be catching on) pours pleasantly light and cloudy, as a wheat should, with a healthy head to it.

Welcome, season that's not quite winter! |
Plenty of fruit or otherwise odd beers go overboard on their special ingredient. But Maui manages to show some restraint. The pineapple is present, but just enough to nudge the beer into being a truly cooling beverage on a hot day.
Really, I don't know that I'd ask for anything more. Except another, please.
